Half Shell Oyster House opening new Alabama location
Half Shell Oyster House is set to open its third Birmingham-area location.
The Gulfport, Mississippi-based chain famous for its charbroiled oysters will open a new location at the Campus 124 development in Pelham.
Campus 124 is a $10 million mixed-use development in Shelby County located at the former Valley Elementary School off U.S. 31. The development, which is a sister project of Huntsville’s Campus No. 805, is a part of Pelham’s new entertainment district and trail system, the Pelham Bishop Creek Greenway. In 2021, craft beer taproom and bottle shop The Beer Hog became one of Campus 124′s first tenants when it relocated to the development from its suite a mile away on 112 Bowling Lane.
The Half Shell Oyster House at Campus 124 will be the 15th restaurant in Gulf Coast Restaurant Group’s Half Shell Oyster House portfolio, which spans Mississippi, Alabama and Louisiana.
The Schrimsher Company, the commercial real estate and development company for Campus 124, worked with Kennedy Striplin of Beeker Property Group and Melody Whitten of 58 INC. to bring Half Shell Oyster House to Pelham, according to a 2021 press release.
“We are thrilled to be building in Pelham’s only entertainment district and newest trail system,” said Kelsey Griffin, the marketing director of Gulf Coast Restaurant Group, in the same press release. “We think the Campus No. 124 development brings a lot of variety to the community and we are happy to be a part of it.”
In an interview with the Shelby County Reporter, Griffin said the interior of the restaurant will have a unique design concept compared to its other locations.
Half Shell Oyster House at Campus 124 is currently accepting employment applications, which are available on the restaurant website.
