San Diego newlyweds lose home they just finished remodeling in plane crash

A newlywed couple had just finished remodeling their Southern California home when it was engulfed in flames after a plane crashed into their San Diego neighborhood and killed at least two people, according to a local report.

The couple, identified as Courtney and Cody, bought the home in June, according to KGTV, and spent the following months remodeling before losing all of their possessions after a two-engine Cessna C340 nose-dived into the ground and crashed through the house.

Cedar Falls councilors take deeper look at City Hall remodeling proposal | Political News

CEDAR FALLS – The City Council is placing the estimated $4.5 million City Hall remodeling proposal under a magnifying glass.

A public hearing was scheduled for Oct. 18 by the council in a 6-1 vote Monday after one council member raised objections and another expressed hesitation about the high cost.

If a contract is awarded for the project, work is expected to begin before the end of this year.

“I just think it’s a tremendous amount of money to be spent at this time,” said Councilor Dave Sires about the project.

Sheriff’s Office proposes jail addition, remodeling to deal with COVID-19

Sep. 23—EAU CLAIRE — The Eau Claire County Sheriff’s Office has proposed that federal COVID-19 money fund an addition and remodeling to help the Eau Claire County Jail better deal with the virus and rising numbers of inmates.

Construction costs for the two proposals are estimated to total $6.2 million and could be paid for by American Rescue Plan Act money given to the county. The county has about $14.8 million in ARPA money left to allocate by the end of 2024 out of the $20.3 million it began with.
