The vision

The good news is, Gordy is a cabinetmaker, so he did fundamentally all the things else! He re-built the walls to extend the home marginally, pulled out the doorway to make a broader doorway, tiled the walls, painted the ceiling and walls and hung the artwork. He also custom made created all the timber cupboards, using American Oak veneer.

The lighting

The original kitchen area was genuinely dark, so getting tiny strategies to carry in additional mild in was a priority for the renovation. We determined to minimize a tiny sky light out of the ceiling, and this was a terrific way to support the kitchen experience more linked to the wider business, which also has some sky lights overhead. We also purchased the stunning Ceto Wall Lamp by Ross Gardam in a smoked glass end, and it genuinely elevates the area.

This mixed with some basic LED strip-lights below our new timber cupboards (and yet another ceiling gentle) created the room feel more substantial and brighter – even even though we only extended it by about a metre!

The components

We went with these Moroccan Pink Zellige tiles from Tiles of Ezra for the walls, and replaced the generic and dated gray-laminate benchtop with a lovely slab of Rojo Alicante marble from Daniels’ Marble Dwelling!

To tie it all together, Gordy set up Encompass by Laminex Batten 25 on the kitchen’s exterior wall – we wee in particular impressed when he managed to generate a curve in this wall!  We painted the panelling with Dulux Clay Court docket, and the ceiling also acquired a complementary coat of blush pink with Dulux Piglet. It actually ties all the terracotta tones alongside one another.

The result

My favourite component is the view of the kitchen by the doorway! Looking in and seeing the mild stream through the skylight on to the Lucy Roleff painting, with the tiles powering just looks SO Nice. Will make me feel actually fortunate to have a get the job done kitchen like this!
