Simpson College in Indianola breaks ground on $10.5 million library renovation

Simpson College in Indianola held a groundbreaking Friday for a $10.5 million renovation of the Dunn Library.

Renovation plans include updates to each floor.

The first floor will house the new Teacher Education Center, which will include a curriculum lab, methods classrooms and faculty offices. The enhancements are intended to create an environment for innovation in lesson development.

The second floor will house library services and collections, classrooms and study spaces. The third floor will have quiet study spaces, meeting rooms and Simpson College archives.

The library’s size will remain at 35,515 square feet.

Dunn Library was dedicated in 1964, and named for Rex Dunn, a 1913 Simpson graduate who bequeathed a significant gift for the project.
