Contractors say $90,000 is the new normal for a kitchen renovation in Omaha | Home & Garden

When Kim Armstrong told a contractor she wanted to spend around $35,000 to renovate the kitchen of her family’s Victorian home near Hanscom Park, he laughed.

Think more in the $90,000 range, Eric Price of Bearded Builders said. Especially because they wanted to take down a load-bearing wall to make a walk-in pantry part of the main kitchen area and move the original sink.

Armstrong was dumbfounded.

“Our house only cost $139,000,” she said. “It feels bad to spend more than half of the value of your house on one room. It feels wasteful.”

Rio Rancho video production firm’s new home will feature studio space

RIO RANCHO — Kim Smith saw the demand for digital advertising and marketing grow, especially from the outset of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Smith, the co-owner of Rio Rancho-based Edit House Productions, soon realized they needed a digital production studio to help accommodate that transition. She found that space upon buying a new building at 640 Quantum Road on May 4.

Edit House is a video production company, specializing in television commercials, online marketing videos, documentary work and retrospective videos highlighting a client’s history.
